> About This Piece
Estlana was a custom character of mine in a game about 15 years ago.
She was a swashbuckling heroine travelling across a shattered kingdom, in the hopes of brining peace to the land.
Here she stands before a tide of fire, in the dark of night, on a bridge between the cliffs of legend, sword raised, awaiting the legions of evil.
> Process
Started with a general sketch of the shapes. The sword, legs pivot, near and far backgrounds.
Spent most of the time refining that sketch, then worked on the background. The flames were first, as I felt they were the most important.
I think the sky came out alright, but I'm not totally happy with the cliffs, maybe they could have used some more definition.
> What I Learned
Paint is trickier than digital! Who would have thought. I struggled a lot about half-way through painting, when I realized I really wasn't sure about her proportions anymore. She wasn't that short in my head!
